Variable cities is a generative art project that explores the aesthetics and patterns of imaginary urban landscapes. By altering a tiny variable, we can travel to completely different locations or affect the overall feeling.
Imagine having the power to change one aspect of your city. What parameter would you choose to transform?
Here are some screenshots I did while working on this experiment. This can give you a rough idea of the possibilities
As a kid, I started experimenting with 3D Studio Max and later Maya. But then I didn't play actively with them for years, focusing entirely on generative art and real-time graphics.
Three years ago I wanted to merge a bit more my different workflows, taking advantage of 3D software and playing with code at the same time.
I first used Unity and then Blender 3D, creating mostly abstract images.
Cities "naturally" emerged from these experiments, and it's a subject I appreciate a lot, aesthetically and conceptually.
I decided later to make a serie on that subject, exploring different aspects of it.
Cities are part of a long serie I started some time ago. Here is a selection of a few of them.
